A Trip to the Movies

Today marked a first for my DB...I took her to the movies for the very first time!  I was a little worried at what might happen while we were in there, but I thought it was about time she got to experience the big screen!  We saw "Winne the Pooh" and it was the cutest movie...oh, and very funny!  I found myself LOL throughout the movie.

With the help of a Sprite, popcorn and gummies, she did great!  Now, she did have to walk around a few times to feed "Baby Lucy", but other than that she sat like a big girl and I think she really enjoyed it!

When we pulled up and saw this big sign, my DB got VERY excited!

She was all smiles for "Winnie the Pooh"!!

"Baby Lucy" was swaddled and ready to watch the movie!

The golden ticket!

This is from my iPhone...look at all that food...and yes, she ate all of it!  :)

TGIF, everyone!

Rainbow Cupcakes

I have been dying to make rainbow cupcakes...it seems like every blog I read and every time I'm on Pinterest, rainbow cakes and cupcakes are all I see.  When Sister got back from her dr's appt this morning, we decided to give it a whirl.  We received our inspiration from here.  (BTW, if you've never read her blog, add it to your list...it's a great one!)

After much debate, we decided to make cupcakes instead of a large cake...we thought it would be easier.  Making these sweet treats is a very tedious process.  Sister and I were on our feet for several hours...we are both perfectionists and got a little OCD when smoothing out each layer.  After completely filling up one pan, we made 'tiny' cupcakes with just a few colors with our leftover icing...hence the tiny cupcakes you will see below.

We mixed up our white cake mix, divided it into six bowls and made our six 'rainbow' colors.

We layered in each color, smoothing each one out with a spoon before pouring the next.

The batter filled up almost each cup entirely...we were afraid that when they baked, they would overflow...but they didn't!

The recipe suggested using cupcake liners, but we forgot them and they turned out great without them!

Homemade cream cheese frosting...YUM!

I piped on the icing....

Voile!  They turned out like perfect little rainbows!
(And yes, they tasted just as delicious as they look!)

Now, I'm no Betty Crocker, but I was very proud of us when I saw how great they turned out.  They are so cute...they just make you smile!  Happy baking, everyone!  :)

Decker Girls Beach Trip

While Daddy D was off hitting the links in Scotland, Momma D, Sister, DB and I hit the road to the Emerald Coast.  We've had it planned for months and it was over in the blink of an eye.  We shopped, ate TONS of seafood, soaked up some rays and spent lots of time playing with our favorite 2 1/2 year old.

We were LOADED down...it's a miracle we were able to fit it all in!

After we unloaded everything, we went straight to Tommy Bahama for a great meal...DB acted like a very big girl!

Our little "beach-bum"!

Sister and I cut our beach day short for a little pampering here...THANK YOU, Momma D for treating us!

We came home from the spa to find Momma D's DELICIOUS homemade peach cobbler!

Dinner and 'dancing' at Pompano Joe's!

We took a few tumbles on the dance floor...

Sister and me

DB had her first taste of Dippin' Dots and she LOVED them!

DB is a much bigger fan of the pool than the ocean!

I bet she jumped off this wall 100 times!

Our sunscreen-y baby!

We decided to be brave and all go to 'Bistro Bijoux' for dinner one night...we were a little nervous taking DB to such a nice place, but she did amazingly well!  DeeDee had LOTS of 'princess treats' ready to be given out at the slightest sight of a meltdown!

My Shrimp and Grits were AMAZING!

The Caramel-Bourbon Bread Pudding was to-die-for!!

After our big dinner, we needed to spend some time walking around...Baytowne was the perfect spot!  DB was SO excited to hold her ticket for the carousel!

We were both equally mesmerized by the 'zip-liners'!

You might be a 'dorky aunt' if you ride the carousel with your niece and make this face!
*In case any of y'all out there ever ride the Carousel at Baytowne in the future, beware...it is SUPER fast!

One night, DB wanted her hair to look like her Mommy's...so we used the diffuser and 'scrunched' it!

This picture is for all of Sister's friends...AK let DB wear her most prized possession...her headband!

DB loved being at 'The Back Porch'...crab claws, mahi mahi and amber jack...YUM-O!

We hated to say good-bye to this amazing view!  :(

Momma D, thank you for such a wonderful trip!  It was great to get away and relax for a few days with my favorite girls.

A Check Off the Bucket List

Last night, I checked off one of the things on my bucket list....I saw this girl in concert!!!!!

I have been a fan of "Ri-Ri" since she hit the pop scene and I have always wanted to see her in concert.  Two weeks ago, she announced she would be doing a benefit concert in B'ham to raise money for tornado relief.  I spoke to Caroline and she had a group going, so I jumped on board with them.

The concert was BANANAS!!!  It was everything I hoped it would be and more.  I wore my sparkles in celebration of Ri-Ri...I totally think they helped me dance better!  haha  I don't think our group ever sat down once she hit the stage...she played ALL her hits!  She did not disappoint...the encore with "Love the Way You Lie" and "Umbrella" was just icing on the cake!  I took a bajillion pics on my iPhone, but with the lighting, they're not the best...all the below photos are from my old-school digital...I couldn't risk taking the Reb into all the chaos.

Me, Caroline Davis, Caroline Mears and Mary Shaffer...we were SO excited to see Ri-Ri!!

Look who I found at Ri-Ri.....My BFF KLC!  Can you tell by our expressions that we were SUPER excited?!

Check out her shoes!

She was SO close to us!!

"Unfaithful"

Girls, had so much fun with y'all last night!  I think my head hit the pillow around 1:00 this morning...my 5:45 alarm for work came WAY too soon...but it was SO worth it!
