Easter Weekend

The Easter Bunny has officially made his visit for the year and we can now bust out our white pants!  Hallelujah!  We were fortunate to have the Crowes with us this year for Easter in A'ville.  It was a whirlwind of a weekend...we dyed eggs, hunted eggs twice, celebrated the 80th B'day of a dear family friend, did some shopping and a whole lot of eatin'!  What is it about Easter that puts you into a food coma?  I have eaten, eaten, and eaten some more.  Momma and Daddy D outdid themselves as they always do when we're home!  My mom has a knack for all holidays, but especially with Easter...she had little surprises all over the house.

When I rolled into town on Friday, Momma and Daddy D were waiting for me!

We sat on the front porch drinking some yummy vino!

As soon I got into town, I headed to my favorite store...Whitten's!  I needed an Easter dress in a major way...thanks, Thomas, for hooking me up!

Momma D always has the cutest Easter decor

We spent lots of time outside with this racing DB!

After all the sodium we consumed at Ichiban, Sister and I had swollen toes...but at least we had on cute shoes!

Easter wouldn't be complete without some egg dyeing!

In an effort to not ruin her good clothes, Katherine wore her 'apron'!

Before giving K her bath, I decided to put one of my old danceline outfits on her...I am still laughing from this!  I even taught her how to 'march'!

I found these Target brand pj pants at a bargain store in A'ville for $5..they feel like BUTTER!

Coming downstairs to see what the Easter Bunny brought!

The Easter Bunny brought DB an owl beanbag...

and a new summer beach towel!

The Crowes gave me a summer beach towel too...LOVE the owls!

We wore our pjs for the first egg hunt!

GrandBobby and his 'Baby Doll' all dressed up for church

The Crowes

After church, it was time for the second egg hunt...DB was on a mission to find all the eggs!

The Episcopal Church is right down the street from our house...I loved their cross!

Happy Easter Sunday, everyone!

100th Post and 25 Things

Wow...this is my 100th blog post!  My blog sure has evolved since the early days...it originally started as documentation of my major home renovation.  Now, it's just about my day-to-day life...and of course, my niece!  To commemorate the momentous occasion of 100 posts, I wanted my post to be 'outside the box'.  I'm an avid reader of US Weekly magazine, and I LOVE the spotlight they do on celebs called "25 Things You Don't Know About Me".  No, I'm not a celebrity, but I decided to compile a list of completely random things about myself to share with y'all.

****DISCLAIMER-These are all completely random, but honest things...please don't hold any of this info against me! ****

25 Things You Don't Know About Me

1. I sleep in my retainers every night.
2. I am a major creature of habit…I eat the exact same thing for breakfast every day…scrambled egg whites with FF cheese and Canadian bacon.
3. My most prized possessions are my “ba-bas”. (blankets) If my house caught on fire, they would be the first things that I grab.
4. I am not a shoe person.
5. I record one soap opera every day…the Young and the Restless…thank you Papa for getting me addicted at age 5!
6. I can wiggle my ears without touching them.
7. I have never hit the snooze button.
8. I played the clarinet for six years. (please don’t make fun!)
9. The first thing I do in the morning as soon as my feet hit the floor is to make up my bed…I cannot sleep in an unmade bed.
10. If you see me out, I will have one of two bags on my shoulder…either my ‘school bag’ or my ‘fun bag’.
11. I feel naked if I'm not wearing my pearl earrings.
12. I am a member of the Junior League of Birmingham...one of my greatest passions is volunteering and helping others.
13. I do not like to walk barefoot.
14. My hometown is the “Fire Hydrant Capital of the World”.
15. I would wear a dress everyday if I could.
16. I drove a gold “Exploder” for 8 years…and I despised the hubcaps on the tires! Ha (I’m a car person).
17. I am a very good speller and a super-fast text messager.
18. When I was five, I fell off the balance beam and broke my right arm…still have a scar where the bone popped out.
19. On my 16th birthday, one of my best guy friends put a huge PINK sign on our high school wishing me a happy birthday…oh, and he put up signs with balloons at various places around town too!
20. Until the 1st grade, I went by the name ‘Ginny’…My mom said I came home one day and told them that I would go by ‘Virginia’...so glad I made that decision so early!  ha
21. I still carry my Auburn student ID in my wallet at all times.
22. I like my pancakes a little on the “doughy” side…actually, that applies to all baked goods.
23. One of my greatest fears is running out of gas in my car...I have been scared of this since childhood...although, I have to say no one in my family has ever run out of gas!
24. When I hear a song from rush on the radio, I always ‘bop’...it’s a habit I can’t break.
25. I am completely OCD about being on time...I was the girl in college who arrived at 7:30 for my 8:00 class.

A big thanks to all my readers out there...I don't know who most of you are, but I appreciate your taking time to read my randomness!  I hope you all enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy blogging on it.  I'll be back later this week with hopefully a less random post.   :)

Weekend Fun

This weekend was one of those weekends that made me miss college.  It made me miss sitting outside in the yard with a cooler and some tunes playing, getting ready to go out with my friends and trying on 100 outfits until you found one that was 'just right', eating and drinking yourself silly, and retelling all the old stories that you've heard a million times but still make you laugh until you almost wet your pants.

Brittany (a.k.a. Britt) came to town this weekend!  We spent all day Saturday sitting outside at Jackson's catching up and celebrating Jessica's birthday.  Last night, we all met up for a yummy dinner at Mafiozas followed by some fun at Otey's.  Today, we met up for lunch at Big Blue Bagel and of course had to stop by TCBY for some yogurt.  Can you tell our whole weekend revolved around food and drink?  It was fantastic and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I am so thankful for these girls and their friendships...but sure wish I could rewind to college when we could have these awesome weekends on a regular basis!

I decided to 'spruce up' my house for Britt's arrival...what does that better than fresh flowers?!

Mimosas at Jackson's...YUM!

Happy Birthday, Jessica!

Dinner at Mafiozas!

Otey's

One of our fave restaurants in AU was Big Blue Bagel...so happy they opened one in B'ham!  We love their 'Tiger Melts', bagel chips and honey mustard!

While in college, we spent HOURS at TCBY...our weekend wouldn't have been complete without some fro yo!

Britt, please come visit again soon...we sure do miss you around these parts!
