Sunday Randomness

While driving home from church this morning, I was trying to come up with an idea for a blog post.  Everything that came across my mind was completely random....hence the title of this post!

My splurge for myself this weekend was for these tulips...if I were a wealthy gal, I'd have fresh flowers in my house everyday!

I'm loving these Baked Cheetos right now...and yes, I cut the bag in half so I could reach the Cheetos faster! lol

As previously confessed, I'm a 100% candy addict...these jelly beans are YUMMY!

After a long man-hunt, I finally tracked down the 'Skinny Girl' margarita in the Ham...it's super tasty!

I'm currently looking for a good reason to drink this bottle of wine...

I've always been a yogurt fan, but recently I've become a Greek yogurt fan!

I said good-bye to my 'CrackBerry' this weekend and became an iPhone user...doesn't my case look 'Very Virginia'?!  I'm not sure how I ever survived without an iPhone...I'm already addicted!

I'm catching up on Season 1 of 'Modern Family' right now with Netflix...it seriously has to be the funniest show on tv!  HYSTERICAL!

In honor of what's happening in Augusta right now, I'm wearing my Masters shirt today.  Can't wait to see who will be taking home the green jacket!

I am loving this sunny weather and am loving that the tax deadline is quickly approaching...I can't wait for all my CPA friends to be done with all their crazy work hours!  Have a great week, everyone!

April Recipe Club

This month, we ditched the kitchen and went out to eat as a group.  After much voting, we decided on '26'.  I had not been to '26' in about three years, so I was ecstatic!  The weather Monday night couldn't have been much worse, but it didn't keep us from having a wonderful time.  The drinks were great and the food was fantastic.  I tried to remember to take a lot of pictures, but once my food arrived, I kind of forgot about the camera!  If you're looking for a fabulous restaurant with a super-trendy and hip atmosphere, 26 is for you!

Sister and I had a few fun drinks

Ashley's salad

Melanie's salad

The hummus was super yummy!

I had the Gulf Coast Shrimp over a bed of Gouda Grits...there are no words to describe the deliciousness!

Ashley's Baby Lobster Tails

This is what it looked like outside right before we left

Girls, it was a blast as always...I'm already looking forward to next month!

Who's Up for a Yard Sale?

My dad asked me that question Friday afternoon.  Early Saturday morning, there was a HUGE yard sale in B'ham...former HealthSouth exec Richard Scrushy's yard sale in fact.  After a little discussion, we thought it would be worth taking a gander....it was only 5 minutes from my house.

It was the biggest yard sale I've ever been to...we had to walk about 1/2 a mile just to get to the barn that contained all the 'goods'.  Once we got inside it was every man for himself.  People were pushing, shoving, and grabbing things left and right.  I had my camera in my purse, but I was scared to pull it out for fear of getting knocked out by someone and it getting crushed.

We escaped with 2 purchases...my dad, the golf enthusiast, bought a print of the infamous Ben Hogan (signed by him too!) which he assures me is the most famous golf picture of all time and I got an antique bamboo mirror....I LOVE it.  As soon as my dad took down his golf print, people wanted it from him...it was B-A-N-A-N-A-S!  One man offered him double what he paid!  I told Daddy D to go for it, but he didn't want to part with it.

As my dad and I were standing outside with the purchases waiting to be picked up by Momma and Sister D, a man from the Birmingham News approached us and asked if he could photograph us.  I immediately said no for the following reasons:
  1. I had on no make-up
  2. I had on work out clothes (but of course had not actually been working out)
  3. I had my hair slicked back in a pony tail and was wearing a hat
After much convincing, I agreed, but insisted he used only the 'flattering' ones...he didn't find that as amusing as I did.   :)  Luckily, I was not pictured in the B'ham news, but I was online and in the Mobile paper and in the Chattanooga paper...I am beyond mortified.  If you see my pics, just go ahead and laugh because they're hysterical.  Honestly, I have to laugh because if I don't, I'll cry at the awfulness of them.  The funniest picture is me on the back of a turqoise pick up truck full of firewood...yes, we 'hitched' a ride with some strangers down the hill so we wouldn't have to carry our purchases.

Walking up the hill

Waiting in line...

Everyone had to wear one of these stickers

Daddy D and his Ben Hogan print

LOVE my mirror...now just have to figure out where to hang it!

SBK 2K11

Well, SBK 2K11 is officially over...how did the week go by so fast?  There were no big trips, no big plans for me this year...I spent the week checking things off my to-do list (dr. appts, hair cut, etc) and spending time with the fam.  My DB had SBK this week as well, so the timing couldn't have been any better.

Since my grill got installed, I've been dying to try it out and grill some yummy burgers.  When Blake married my sister almost 6 years ago, I don't think he knew what he was getting himself into...not sure AK told him he would be gaining a sister that would be around ALL the time! haha  They are always so good to me and do so much for me all the time, I thought I'd whip them up a meal to show my gratitude.  We grilled burgers and corn, had pasta salad and a yummy chocolate chess pie for dessert...and yes, I made all of it!  I think I have permanently ruined my oven after spilling the pie everywhere, but it was worth it...it was all very tasty!

Momma Decker came in town on Thursday and we spent some time at one of our favorite places....The Summit!

Friday, my BFF Kinzi, texted me asking if I wanted to go on a random road trip for the day....to Mississippi.  I had nothing on the agenda for the day, so I thought, why not?  I always love a good road trip.  She needed to visit a customer in Columbus, MS.  Well, we got so caught up in conversation that Kinzi forgot to look at the GPS....so we missed a few turns and ended up in Meridian, MS!  It was such a cluster...Kinzi was crying and I was laughing...think we turned around in the median at least twice.  It all worked out because she had a client in Meridian she could call on while we were there.  We ate a yummy lunch and even found a super-cute boutique!

One of the biggest things on my list for this spring was to go with DB to the zoo.  This morning, I met the Crowes for a morning with the animals!  I think I had more fun than Katherine...I loved seeing all the animals and I, of course, took hundreds of pictures.  For some reason, I was DYING to ride the camel...but the line was too long. I fully intend to go back ASAP to pay the $5.50 for my camel ride.

Tomorrow marks the first day of spring...hallelujah!  I know we're all ready for sunshine and warm weather.  Whatever you did this week, I hope you had a great SBK 2K11!
