Decker Family Field Trip

The Decker family has "fall fever"! We have been dying to get out of town and take a little road trip. We've been waiting on the weather to cool down and this weekend seemed like the perfect time to head north. Saturday morning, we rose bright and early to head to Lynchburg, TN....the home of the Jack Daniel's Distillery! The whole Decker family has been before, but it's been a few years. I didn't remember it at all!

Mom made us reservations at an amazing restaurant for lunch...Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. It is an old beautiful plantation style house a couple of miles from the Distillery. We ate "family style" at a long table and consumed some of the best Southern cookin' I've had in awhile!! Mac and cheese, cream corn, fried chicken, fried okra, and fried apples cooked in Jack Daniels.....YUM! We all left with a full tummy. If you want the full Lynchburg experience, you should definitely stop by Miss Bobo's!!

We took the guided tour at the Distillery and I enjoyed learning how the whiskey is made down in the "holler"! Unfortunately, they were on maintenance shutdown while we were there, so we didn't get to see the actual whiskey flowing through the barrells...but we could still smell it!!!

The DB greeted me on the front porch when I pulled into the driveway Friday night!

DB was soooo excited to eat some Southern food!

While waiting on the dinner bell to ring, we swang DB.

Dad, me, and Jack D!

Sister had her backpack ready for the tour!

This is where all the barrels of whiskey are held

The grounds of the Distillery were beautiful

On our way home from Lynchburg, we stopped at the best pumpkin farm on the planet. As mentioned earlier, we have fall fever...big-time! I don't remember the name of this farm but it was amazing...we only wished we had a trailor behind the Expedition so we could buy more!! There were so many different kinds of pumpkins...I think Sister and I actually screamed when we saw all of them!!

This pumpkin weighed over 80 lbs!

We got back to A'ville just in time to watch some football.....War Eagle!! Our little cheerleader needed a water break!!

It was a wonderful weekend at home with the family. Happy Fall Y'all!!!!

  1. The only thing that would have made this better would have been if your other sister would have been there! Looks like a great time!
