Thanksgiving

The Decker crew had a wonderful Thanksgiving week. I spent some much needed time at home with my parents and the DB. We had a blast playing with her and just having 'family time'. I'm not quite sure what we ever did before Katherine came into the world...I think we were probably pretty boring!

Thanksgiving Day, we went to Huntsville to spend the day with the Ferneaus and our cousin Christa and her family who were in town from San Diego. Having two little ones running around the house definitely was a change for our small 'quiet' family! haha Aunt Jenn put on a wonderful spread of food...even the Red Velvet "crepe" was delish!

This time of year is always a time to remember what's important in life and what all we have to be thankful for. This year, I am thankful for: my amazing family, my new job which I am still absolutely in love with, my wonderful friends, good health, my house, etc. Honestly, I could fill up a whole post on all the things I am thankful for.

This "Hetti the Hippo" tent brought DB lots of fun over the holiday.

Katherine is officially a Barney/Dora/Elmo fan...she and I spent lots of time curled up in GrandBobby's study watching videos.

One of the staples in our house at Thanksgiving time...my mom's AMAZING sweet potato pies....there are none better in the whole world!

Sister's "Southern Beer Punch" was a huge hit at Thanksgiving

Baby Andrew was so sweet!

DB's laugh is absolutely contagious!

We were so thankful to have our cousin Christa and her family celebrating Turkey Day with us! (The turkey hats were supposed to be for the kid-os...but I couldn't resist!)

In honor of the Iron Bowl, I had to wear my favorite button to Thanksgiving...it totally made my outfit! :)

This is our best attempt at a group shot in the kitchen

Andrew and Katherine in their hats...think they look way better on them than me!! haha

And of course, Thanksgiving week wouldn't be complete without some orange and blue in the Decker house. On Iron Bowl Friday, the Decker family started getting pumped at about 7:15 am. While cleaning up breakfast, I turned around and said, "I think we need to do a few cheers!". So I led the family in AU's best cheers....'Boddagedda' and 'Track 'Em Tigers'. Then Sister brought in her AU CD from the car and we marched/danced around the kitchen to the fight song. Katherine kept saying, "More Auburn song, please!". We were all fired up and ready to watch our Tigers!

Thank you Aunt TT for K's super-cute outfit for the Iron Bowl!

Sister and Katherine marching to the fight song!

I came back to B'ham Friday morning so I could watch the game with friends. In the midst of all the excitement, I completely forgot to take any pictures. It was quite possibly the best Iron Bowl I've ever seen and I couldn't be more proud of my Tigers........WDE!!!! It wasn't a pretty win, but a win none the less. I am so proud to be an Auburn Tiger!!!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Now that Turkey Day is over, the Christmas season is officially under way. My house is almost fully decorated....stay tuned for decor pics!

How the West Was Won

The Decker family had a wonderful weekend at the Loveliest Village on the Plains! We headed down first thing Friday morning, and we were all decked out in our orange and blue...even the DB! We had lunch at Amsterdam's and then shopped around downtown for the rest of the afternoon. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and we had the best time tootin' around town!

Up until game time on Saturday, I spent time tailgating with friends. I had not seen Britt in over 3 months! Britt, Bailey, and I spent a few hours at the Sigma Nu house and then headed over to the KA tailgate to see the rest of the group. It was a FANTASTIC day, and the Tigers' victory was just icing on the cake....ATL, here we come!!!!

I know I talk about how much I love AU all the time on here, but I feel like it can't be said enough. This game was the first game I've been to all season...I hate to even admit that. The stadium was electric! I love how being in Jordan-Hare Stadium makes you feel like if you shake your shaker hard enough, you can single handedly make the Tigers score. I LOVE being a part of the Auburn family! Auburn is a special place for my family...my parents met there, got married there, and Sister and I both went to school there. When we go to AU, it really just feels like we're going home.

Katherine wasn't too sure about this cheerleader!

Our future AU graduate!

GrandBobby and DB love spending time with each other!

I think the only thing left to say is.............................WDE!!!!!

Recipe Club

At the end of the summer, Sister and I were asked to join a Recipe Club. I was hesitant to accept because the thought of cooking for a group of people every month completely intimidated me. But, I was assured it was lots of fun and a great learning experience. Well, they were right!! I am loving Recipe Club! I have learned so much about different ingredients and just cooking in general. And, I have met some amazing girls in the process! Sister and I get together on the Sunday before we meet and we cook our recipes together...we call it our "bonding time"! haha

Our Recipe Club meets every month at someone's house and we bring our recipe of choice. Each month's hostess chooses a theme, selects the recipes to choose from, and we sign up on our blog. November's Recipe Club was hosted by Sister. She chose a "Thanksgiving Feast" theme and all the recipes came from The Food Network. Everything was delish!! We had a turkey, stuffing...the whole shebang! I wish these pictures had some "smellavision" for y'all....I think we all cleared our plates! Below are pics of the decor and all the recipes!

Sister's Tablescape was so festive!

Most of our recipes came from this magazine!

Display on the mantle

Mary made a great holiday cocktail!

I made Paula Deen's Smoky Cheese Bacon Loaves...this is a "before oven" shot of them.

"After oven" shot....they were great! I highly recommend them...they were fairly easy to make and super yummy. They would be great to give as presents for the holidays!

Sister was the VIP last night...she cooked her very first turkey! This is a "before oven" shot.

"After oven" shot! It tasted just as great as it looked. Congrats, Sis on an amazing job! Alton Brown definitely knows his turkeys!!

Meghan's Haricots Verts

Ashley's Cranberry Apple Stuffing

Caron's Cornbread

Lauren's Chocolate Monkey Bread

Melanie's Pumpkin Cheesecake...it was to die for!

As mentioned above, all of these recipes can be found on our blog. It is updated monthly with our choices. I have decided to dedicate a post on my blog every month to our recipes...kind of like a food critic. I will report in on which ones we liked, didn't like, which ones were hard/easy, etc. As for this month, all the recipes were amazing...especially the stuffing and pumpkin cheesecake! Happy November everyone!!
